Kinja'd!!!

It has no power outlets.

This is 2015.

That is unacceptable.

As cheap as battery packs are... Or go on jalopnik/gizmodo and you’ll see an ad for battery packs. Hell, I have 3 and one even has a solar cell on it.

Thinking any 767 is less than 10 years old

But this is a 777.

Well the 767 I flew in yesterday had window trim falling off. And the seals inside the window were falling off. And it made very weird noises. And had no power outlets.

You’re lucky.

Oh I guess that explains it. Their fleet isn't all upgraded I guess.

I’ll take a line from Louis C.K.

“Oh my god, really? What happened then, did you fly through the air like a bird, incredibly? Did you soar into the clouds, impossibly? Did you partake in the miracle of human flight and then land softly on giant tires that you couldn’t even conceive how they fucking put air in them?...You’re sitting in a chair in the sky. You’re like a Greek myth right now.”

United sucks so hard. Almost as hard as US Air.

You know what’s worse? They mock you with “equipped with power outlets” stickers on EVERY SEAT. And no free Mai Tais on their flights to Hawaii. Absolutely ridiculous!

It’s really nuts. The United 777 I flew to Hawaii last year had a recently redone interior with refurbished seats that covered the in seat screens with cloth (but still left the boxes taking up room under the seats). Instead they provided wifi and entertainment through that (not a horrible idea), but provided no in seat power. Even if they aren’t going to give us AC plugs, at least stick some USB somewhere for charging phones/tablets.

Is that something that people expect now?

I honestly don’t really expect power outlets on planes.

If it’s an A model (generally only flown to Hawaii and some European destinations from the East Coast), then UA hasn’t updated those interiors in quite a while.

Yes, it has a specific seat map. The one we flew out to Maui had power outlets, so I was surprised this didn’t.

I definitely do. When your stuck in a metal tube for 9-10+ hours and your soul source of entertainment is brought through a mobile device, a power outlet is essential.

The 777 we flew out to Maui in had the retrofitted power outlets, so I cam to expect it on all of their fleet.

I agree, the wifi entertainment isn’t awful. Except when it isn’t working. Which happened on my return flight from Maui.

Hopefully the power shows up in more places, though there could be downsides to that. I was on a flight from England (which did have outlets) once and the guy in the seat next to me attempted use his xbox 360 together with some head-mounted display. Luckily those power circuits aren’t anywhere near up to the task of powering an early-gen 360, because that thing right next to you would be louder than the jet’s engines.

Get a backup battery!

It had to have had entertainment system screens though.

Seeing as it's United, I am surprised the plane actually took off the ground during the same calendar year.
